This tour will help you to understand and explore your way around the array of culinary options in the three states of Malaysia namely Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi.

Hawker Stall
Malaysia gastronomical haven is provided through colorful restaurants, street stalls and coffee shops. Open air dining is a favorite among the visitors and locals alike. With a sumptuous smorgasbord of culinary delights, from push-cart meals on wheels to casual dining out at hawker centers, Malaysia offers a gastronomical affair that never ends.

Satay

Satay is a Malay classic which has become the most loved dish from this region. It is the Malaysian version of skewered barbecued meat served with a spicy sweet peanut sauce. The meat is marinated and is served skewered, three pieces of meat to a stick. Accompanying the satay to make a complete meal are sliced cucumbers, sliced raw onions and pressed rice cakes called ketupat. Satay is ideal for a summer barbecue or as part of a beer bash.

Day 3  Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown (D)

You tour guide will meet and greet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. You may choose to rest at the hotel or start to explore the city on your own.  

In the evening, you will visit Chinatown, which bustles with much variety of food stalls to offer other than clothes, shoes, watches, etc. Stroll along the stalls and restaurants and take in the aroma from different types of goods being offered. You will enjoy your dinner at Old China Cafe, a quaint Restaurant offering Chinese / Malay Cuisine, in the atmosphere of a restaurant in the early 1900s. Overnight at Regent Kuala Lumpur or similar hotel.

 

Day 4  Kuala Lumpur, Cooking Lesson – Chinese Cuisine (B/D)

After breakfast, you will have Chinese Cooking lesson conducted by a chef at a 5 star hotel, where you will see how “Dim Sum” and noodles is made. “Dim Sum” – freely translated means “A Little Bit of Heart”. They are small dishes made of meat and vegetables presented in a bamboo basket, steamed or fried. Try your hand making this delicacy and then taste your won “skill”. A souvenir certificate will be given at the end of the class. In the afternoon, your will visit the Central Market, a center for handicraft, antique and art. Later on you will visit Little India to acquaint yourself to the potpourri of spices used for cooking at the spice shops. You will have diner at Coliseum Cafe, well know for its excellent service and western style food.

 

Day 5  Kuala Lumpur – Penang – Cooking Lesson – Indian Cuisine (B)

This morning is at leisure. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Penang to continue your gourmet adventure.

Upon arriving at Penang airport, you will be transferred to the resort.

Penang is known as a food paradise. It abounds with fresh seafood and fruits.

In the evening, you will tour Jaipur Court and learn how to cook Indian food in the heart of Georgetown’s heritage zone. Jaipur Court is renowned for its excellent Northern Indian cuisine and was the recipient of Malaysia Tattler’s Best Restaurant Award for 2001. After dinner, enjoy a trishaw ride through the streets of Georgetown; visit the Gurney Drive Hawker Food Centre, a 2-mile gastronomic sight along the coast. All kinds of mouth watering food of Penang are offered here. You will be dropped off at the nightspots, a popular pub area. Return to hotel on your own.

 

Day 6  Penang -Wet Market - Georgetown Tour - Tropical Fruit Farm Tour (B/D)

After breakfast at hotel, you will visit the wet market at Chowrasta Market. Enjoy the noise and sights of different fish, vegetables, spices, etc. displayed for sale. Walk around the Inner City of Georgetown – Campbell Street, Kapitan Keling Mosque, Sri Mariammah Temple, Kuan Yin Temple and Little India. Then you will be driven to Fort Cornwallis and visit the 4th largest Reclining Buddha and a Burmese Temple.

You will tour a Tropical Fruit Farm a lush 25 acres orchard with over 140 species of tropical and sub-tropical fruit trees. Taste some delicious fruit and fruit juice.

One should not leave Penang without tasting its good seafood. This evening, enjoy our dinner at Eden Seafood Restaurant before return to the hotel.

 

Day 7  Penang / Langkawi (B, D)

Today you will fly from Penang to Langkawi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel and relax at the poolside until dinner time. You will have dinner at Bon Ton Restaurant which specializes in fusion food. The restaurant is located near the sea and has a wonderful antique ambience with its traditional antique Malay houses and coconut trees.

 

Day 8  Langkawi – Island Tour - Cooking Lesson – Malay Cuisine (B/L/D)

Today you will lean how to cook Malay cuisine in the environment and ambience of a traditional Malay House with Chef Shuk. Chef Shuk will guide you to select herbs grown on the courtyard of a lavishly crafted wooden Malay house which resembles a palace of a Malay Sultan in the bygone era. Return to hotel in the afternoon.

Enjoy your dinner at Barn Thai Restaurant built entirely of tropical hard timber sitting in lush mangrove surroundings. Walk along the wooden walkway for the next 450 meters to get to the heart of the restaurant. Today, you will taste a mixture of different Asian cooking.

 

Day 9  Langkawi – Kuala Lumpur – USA

Be transferred to the airport for your flights return home.
